Members of the Bitterroot Valley Det. 937, MCL, participating in ceremonies paying tribute to the 13 Montana Smoke Jumpers who lost their lives in the Mann Gulch fire, August 8, 1949. The same aircraft that was used to fly the Smoke Jumpers to the fire sight “Miss Montana”, a WWII DC9 Dakota, participated in the Honors today by performing two flight passes with a wind drift indicator being dropped over the Darby Lone Pine Cemetery where the Honors were conducted.
